Letters: The Hidden Truth and Its Purpose.

3 January 2024

Dear Friend,

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword, for I have come to turn:

A man against his father,

A daughter against her mother,

A daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man’s foes will be from his own household.”

Matthew chapter 10, vs 34-36.

This Bible passage has been puzzling to me from the very first day I heard of it until recently because it is counterintuitive. This wasn’t what they told us about Jesus. He was a peace-bringer, as they made us believe, and he also, on many occasions, proved it in some of his words and actions. Some include:

His teaching on turning the opposite cheeks.

His forgiveness of sins, especially that he did on the cross; he forgave his killers.

His declaration of peace to his followers.

Why then did he say this? Stay with me…

You must have been given a different narrative at your various religious gatherings; I’m not here to counter those narratives. I have been thinking of something which I earnestly pursued this year, 2023(I will be sending this in 2024 though)

Something which is very strong. It is called truth, and I didn’t joke with it in 2023.

While contemplating this, I made a connection.

Jesus said he’s the truth; he told the truth and is an embodiment of truth and those who believe in truth. In man’s recorded history, Jesus is one of the few people who stood for truth and preached it till death, as a matter of fact, he was killed because of the truth he spoke which they were unable to intellectually discern as it was hidden in figurative expressions and cues for the worthy to see, little wonder he often says, “Let he who have ears hear.” It wasn’t meant for the consumption of everyone, and those who couldn’t understand it took its bitter nature personally and had Jesus killed just like they did to John the Baptist, his cousin (in the writings of John Obidi)

Since time immemorial, truth has been known to be bitter, and it will always be. Why is it so? Because it is simply the truth.

Naturally, Man does not seek the truth; therefore, the truth has to be hidden, and if you violate its privacy, you’d pay for it as Jesus and John did, with so many others like the ancient Greek philosophers like Socrates, down to our very fathers of science like Galileo Galilei and Isaac Newton. Men whose works held a considerable amount of truth.

Jesus came to bring truth, and because he came to bring the truth, do you expect him to bring peace along? Hell no!

They might have told you that one of the many reasons Christianity is divided and causes issues globally is because of what Jesus said up there, but believe that at your own peril.

The truth disrupts order.

The purpose of truth is not to be proclaimed; this is why it is hidden. John chapter 8 vs 32 says: “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.”

It did not say, “and you shall say the truth, and you shall be set free, no, it said in summation that KNOWING THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE.

This is why people don’t speak the truth in public: it doesn’t necessarily mean they are hypocrites; it means they know the truth and know that the purpose of truth is to ride the waves and discern right from wrong.

This is why certain stuff can’t be found in public places except in private newsletters and one-on-one conversations.

Know the truth and keep it to yourself. Those who genuinely seek the truth will find it; it is everywhere; they just need a shift of mind and eyes to see it. Don’t pity the public; don’t tell them; they’d crucify you, unless you are comfortable being like Jesus.

Know the truth. Don’t speak of it. Politicians, religious leaders, business people, investors… those who know the truth in their field want to keep it to themselves and teach their children and mentees, this is why getting a personal mentor is not easy, I too, I am looking for one and until them, I would keep doing trial and errors and connecting the dots because the truth is out there and if I can rightfully connect the dots, recognize patterns and solve the puzzles, I can get what I want. Mentorship will simply save me time.

The reason you should seek the truth is to help you stay safe so that when the frenzy and malady start, you won’t join them to post a stupid woke opinion on social media.

Many knew the truth of our past election and kept quiet. They will keep feeding you bits; the wise among us will pick up those dots and make sense out of it; the others will keep shouting…

To whom brain and mind are given, critical thinking is expected.

Let me end this newsletter with a poem I wrote on truth some time ago:

“The truth, they say, is bitter,

How true is that?

Half-truth? Full-truth? No-truth?

You, my friend, should know the truth.

Not all truth is bitter.

Some, indeed, are bitter as kola, a sign of truth.

Truth was meant to clear

Some are pleasant, enlightening and awaited.

Redirection, reconstruction, correction and path alignment are purposes of truth.

Why then does it seem as bitter as kola?

I don't know; it could be you.

You may have been looking for lies but found the truth, an unsettling truth to disturb your bias.”

Love and light!

Rooting for you, and I trust you too are rooting for me.

Best Regards,

Joseph Chisom Ofonagoro.

Till I write next, Goodbye!
