Letters: New Year Gift.

27 December 2023

Dear friend,

This is going to be the last letter I’d be sending you, especially this year as a friend; isn’t it thrilling? It is for me.

In the spirit of the celebration, I have some friendly advice for you.

This is that time of the year when people make new year goals; many of which they abandon mid-January, a time when people feign a new leaf, but in all, it is almost 2024, personally I am not really feeling the vibes and all those euphoric stuff that comes with every new year, I am not even making new year goals ‘cause I already have goals I am yet to finish; very long term goals that I might end up finishing in Q3 or Q4 of 2024, but that’s not the main issue, you should make new goals if only you accomplished all your 2023 goals that you really want to accomplish, else, you may want to do like me, if you wish. Though I achieved about 70% of my 2023 goals.

To the main point….

There is something I have noticed among folks, and it is puzzling actually…

Listen, a substantial amount of how your 2024 and subsequently every new year will be is to a great extent dependent on how you spend the last days of 2023 and every year’s ending.

How your 2024 is going to be will be largely influenced by how you spend the last few days of 2023… especially the 31st of December, as you enter the early hours of 2024.

Do you doubt it? Don’t,

Where have you been spending the last few days of December? How have you been spending it? Where are you always at on the eve of New Year’s Day?

With family? On a vacation? Church? Clubbing? Partying? Meditating and planning? Accessing your year? Where?

I’m not here to judge you, but you should connect the dots and see why your life is how it is each year…

You set goals but can’t even follow up past the second week of January? Do your goals in any way align with where and how you finish the year and transition into the new year?

You want to be more spiritual next year, become closer to God more, and you party till dawn on the 31st; does that align?

If you have been an ardent follower of my letters, you’d understand that I emphasize connecting the dots… now make a correlation between where you are always found and where you want to be…

Know always that it is at this moment that unproductivity rises among people. Distractions are everywhere, and you have to draw on your self-discipline to stay focused.

Guess where I’d be and how I’d spend my last days of this year and reply to me with it?

Plan your new year and be in places that align with it and can help you achieve it.

How you spend the last few days of 2023 will imbue you with a certain type and level of energy that, if sustained by immediate implementation and discipline, will direct and keep you aligned to the right trajectory you're supposed to be in throughout 2024 regardless of what comes your way.

Writing this, I remember the particular night I drafted a calendar on the 3rd of January this year; guess what? I made more personal calendars this year than I ever have, and though I didn't follow them physically, the subsequent calendars I made contributed to the actualization of my goals this year.

Again, if you must set New Year's goals, do so before 2024.

Before the adrenaline pump of New Year's makes you write down goals that are not SMART

Now, do the needful, do what you need to do.

I have a whole lot to do next year. A whole lot, and then I’d be very inaccessible…

And hey, be careful with your finances; make a budget and stick to it.

Love and light!

Rooting for you, and I trust you too are rooting for me.

Best Regards,

Joseph Chisom Ofonagoro.

Till I write next, Goodbye!
